Road Map Overview and Getting Started

Welcome to LI827: Preservation Strategies! Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the course structure. Before getting started with the course content, please review the syllabus.

The heart of the course content is found under the “Modules” tab, which will provide you with information about the objectives, readings, discussions, and assignments for each week. This information is also available through the “Assignments” and “Discussions” tabs.

Weekly Meetings

Each week I will hold a weekly virtual meeting to discuss the readings and important concepts relating to that week's topic. Although it is not mandatory to attend in real time and they will be recorded (I know everyone is has different schedules and obligations), they are a valuable way to hold discussions, build community, and answer any questions that arise. The timing of meetings will be based on what works best for the majority of you. There is a link to a Doodle poll in the Week 1 module; please fill out the poll so I can determine what will work best. Each meeting will be recorded and posted following the meeting; if you are unable to attend in real-time, I expect that you will watch the recording and post a response to the discussion board.

Assignments

There are four assignments due throughout the course, and details for each are available through the “Assignments” tab. Each assignment will include instructions and a detailed rubric so you know what details I'll be looking for as I grade. Feedback will be provided through comments added to the papers, as well as overall comments.

Participation

In addition to assignments, part of your grade will be based on participation. A number of activities will contribute to overall participation, including completing the weekly readings, participating in the weekly discussion prompts, and either attending the weekly meetings or watching the recordings and posting a response to a discussion board.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm really looking forward to this semester and hope you are, too!
